Datsa Dynamics Joins $20.3-million Canadian Quantum Defence Initiative

Datsa Dynamics, jointly owned by Des Nedhe Group and Canadian UAVs, will play a key role in Canada’s first Quantum Defence Innovation Secure Hub, announced this week by the Honourable David McGuinty, Minister of National Defence.
Led by the University of Calgary’s Quantum City and supported by a Canadian consortium, the $20.3-million, two-year initiative will advance quantum sensing, communications, algorithms and hardware assurance for defence applications.
As a member of the consortium, Datsa helped develop the successful proposal by serving as an industry liaison and identifying potential operational use cases for emerging quantum technologies.
“We look forward to participating with the University of Calgary and Quantum City in developing solutions that will advance Canadian defence capabilities,” said Mark Sombach, President of Datsa Dynamics LP. “This investment brings Canadian researchers, industry and the military together to develop technology that can close surveillance gaps and give decision-makers better information, faster.”
The investment aligns with Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy, which identifies quantum technology as a key sovereign capability and emphasizes building more critical defence capacity at home.
